Hand Drawn symbols Entrance symbol
This symbol looks a lot like the tunnel symbol but look close and you will see the 90 degree or right angle turn (not rounded) of the vertical lines.
On maps or documents this symbol will usually adjoin a mountain or will be at the bottom, top or side corner of the map.
It indicates which compass direction the entrance trail will be found relating to the mountain or the mountain range.
The same symbol or ridgeline notch will be found at the trail entrance or actual doorway.
When you find this symbol with a carved center boulder that looks like a large can it simply says there are two trails here, one on each side.
