Both upper and lower symbols on the left represent West.

On a map these symbols mean West, on the trail they mean turn West.

The lower left symbol says go 5 places West.

The right side upper and lower symbols represent East because of the sun rays.

The rays are meant to be counted so the upper would say go East 7 places.

In the lower one we would add the 5 so it would say go East 12 places.
