Hand Drawn SYMBOLS CORNER MONUMENT

This is a corner monument and usually makes up one point of a large triangle.

This is a trail marker on both maps and in the field adjoining a mountain or a stream/river.

It is usually several hundred pounds and has several ball sized rocks underneath so light can be shown under the marker to make it a compass point.

You can stand on top of the rock and take compass bearings of the directions because this is where the direction changes at this point.
