Hidden Box of Treasure

In December 1864 a band of guerrillas under the command of an ex confederate colonel named Joseph Sanders attacked the town of Newton in Dale County, Alabama. The townspeople had a major problem: What to do with a box filled with a small fortune in coins that belonged to the town. The problem was solved by selecting three men to bury the box. When the fight was over, four of Newton’s citizens were dead, and as fate would have it, three of them were the ones that had buried the towns treasury. Plenty of evidence in the courthouse records and a large plaque near the courthouse (a good site for some treasure hunter)
