If you look at the dark bush in front of the Indians nose, and just up above a bit, you’ll see the confirmation that this is referring to the East because you’ll see a large E in a lighter color in the bush. This is just to help you confirm your nose to nose compass bearings. When they tell you it’s on the nose they mean it literally.
